Hello,

System:
TrueNAS-SCALE-22.02.3 on a HPE GEN8 Microserver
4x8TB Seagate disks, encrypted
1x128GB Samsung 850PRO SSD for System Dataset Pool, encrypted
Mirrored boot pool (1x16GB MLC USBStick + 1x32GBSandisk mircoSD)

Issue:
It is a new installation (no upgrade). Both pools are encrypted and created from scratch. After reboot via GUI, both pools are offline and the only way to make them workable is, "Export/Disconnect" and reimport. Than I need to provide the encryption key.
After this, all is working fine until the next reboot where this procedure need to run again.

Any ideas whats going on here? Should the keys not stored permanently? I did not set a passphrase.

Thanks a lot

You may find setting the encryption type to passphrase and then back to keys might do it.

That will only work if your system dataset isn't on that pool, so you may need to temporarily move it off if that's the case.

Hi, thanks for your hint...

1. set the "System Dataset Pool" back on the boot-pool and restarted the server
2. imported both pools and restarted the server
--> same result

3. imported volSSD and changed encryption to passphrase and restarted the server
--> same result, pool is offline

...but did not solve it.

Just did a reinstall from scratch and imported both pools. Two reboots later, it seems to work as expected. Both are found and unlocked by itself. ...Unsatisfying, as the cause was not found but now it works again.

Many thanks for the help.
