email setup

hi all,
is there any post showing all possible email reports or notifications to setup.
have been around for 2h in forum but only got separate pcs of mail setup and afraid of doing an overlap for the same thing.

There's only one place to set up e-mails. If you've set it up here, you don't need to set it up anywhere else.

I suppose some jails require a separate setup, but that's up to each individual jail.

I have set up the mail parameters on Settings>Email and also configured an email address to the root user, if mean that.
I was looking for some extra info about what is by default sent via email periodically or "on event" and what is necessary to configure in scripts and cron.

Oh I see. Everything is handled for you, you don't need to set anything in cron.

Off the top of my head, you will get the following emails:

- SMART alerts
- security output
- pool capacity low (an e-mail at 80% capacity, another at 90% and maybe a third one at 95%?)
- zpool status changes from anything but HEALTHY
- UPS events

A nice add-on is a SMART status report:

Periodic events you should set, but not in cron:

- snapshots
- scrubs
- SMART tests
