Downloaded FreeNAS and ended up with TrueNAS

I have a FreeNAS box running and have never had any issues with it. I have set up a TrueNAS box several times and all I can get is "You don't Have Permission".
I have fought this all I'm going to fight it and at this point I'll either go with FreeNAS, if I can find where to download it, or else move on. It makes no sense to me that a NAS OS would by default block any and all access to it's shares.

If someone could tell me where to download FreeNAS I would much appreciate it.

Thank you

Are you trying to access the shares with root - if you are it won't work

FreeNAS has been renamed TrueNAS CORE. They are one and the same product.

I've tried everything under the sun. The share is configured as wide open permissions so I don't understand how you can say "share this with everyone and give them full permissions" and still get "You Don't Have Permission".

In answer to you question, I setup a new user.

If this is true then I don't understand why FreeNAS works and TrueNAS doesn't. My FreeNAS box works perfectly with both Windows and Linux. With TrueNAS I can't get off first base.

If you really must have them, old FreeNAS versions can be found here: https://archive.freenas.org/

However, I echo and support @Patrick M. Hausen 's & @NugentS 's comments. By my experience you should be able to get TrueNAS up and running with a little reading and asking questions here.

Thank you sir. I'll load FreeNAS and if it still doesn't work I'll know I was wrong and will dig further.
