Do I understand snapshots and replication correctly?

I have 2 truenas systems: primary and backup. The primary one takes snapshots, and the backup pulls the snapshots from the primary. Once snapshots are replicated, they are considered backups. If I ever want to rebuild the main, I create a snapshot and replicate it back.

No need to create a snapshot. The entire snapshot history is already there. Just replicate the most recent one back.

You replicate snapshots of datasets, not individual files. The entire snapshots have the lifetime you define in the replication task. They are read-only at the destination. For restore, manually replicate back.
