I have built FreeNAS 11.1-U6 with 3 discs. SSD for system, 2x4TB for data pool. It is home server, rarely used. There is every 5 minutes disc activity on discs (seen on graphs, heard when listening the disc noise). I am afraid it will damage my discs fast. I can not activate spindown. I cannot find the reason. Only S.M.A.R.T. and SMB services are running, but even stopping them did not help. I am not expert, so I am trying to control all just from graphical interface, no SHELL so far.

FreeNAS by design is writing to the System Dataset, which by default is found on the POOL.
The activity is normal as hundreds of posts on this forum can be found on this subject.
Use the search feature and type in CONSTANT DISK ACTIVITY and read up on the subject.
If you just can not tolerate this small amount of writing to your pool, change the location
of the System Dataset over to your boot device. Directions are found in the User Guide.
