disabling the feature that sets all new files in a directory to group owner by default

Hi,

I have just tried to use freenas for a nfs server, but come across the issue that all new files in a directory are created with the directories group owner not the users group.

I have seen a post from a while ago that indicates this to be default behaviour in freebsd, is there any way to change this? As it makes the shares unusable for the purpose I need
