Hello,
I have a freenas system running on a SuperMicro storage device with 15 drives in RAID-10, 7 pairs with hot spare.
I recently received this error message: 'Device: /dev/da7 [SAT], unable to open device'

  1. Indeed when I use 'ls /dev' I cannot see da7 + I cannot run smartctl on it because I get this: 'Smartctl open device: /dev/da7 [SAT] failed: No such file or directory'
  2. Looking at 'zpool status' the pool state in ONLINE, no issues at all and I see all 15 disks.
  3. The LED of the da7 disk on the front panel of the storage is constantly on (I assume it means trouble).
How can I know the status of the device if I cannot read from it and how come the disk is online and healthy according to the zpool?

Appreciate any advice, thank you! ;|

See if you have something in dmesg | grep da7
