Here is the log for data2 drive. Does anyone know why this would happen at the same time for both drive? Do both drives need to be swapped now?

Thank you.

Temperature is a likely candidate; the disk you showed the SMART output for is currently at 50°C and has seen 61°C this power cycle, which is way too hot.

There are a lot of threads here on "offline uncorrectable sectors", and I'd suggest reading some of them for a much better answer. But with that said, the disk you posted the data for has failed its last two SMART self-tests--that says it needs to be replaced.

Thanks for the response. My drive is still under warranty. Do you think WD would be able to see and reject based on the temp readings?

Yes, they'll be able to see it if they check. But, since their spec says operating range is 0-65C, seems it would be difficult for them to reject a claim on that basis alone.

@architect The RMA process basically begins with you sending the SMART report to WD as basis for your claim, so WD should know from the start.
But do something about cooling. The case and/or fans are not adequate.

Thanks for the help, folks. I'm gonna bring it back to the store since it's under one year and they can process the RMA for me. Knowing that I should replace the drive and finding the plausible cause is good enough for me. I'm not smart enough to understand all the technical details from all threads on uncorrectable sectors!
