Very grateful for any help received. I am running FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-20150415220 on a separate 16Gb internal flash. I have configured two 3Tb data drives mirrored. As a complete noob, I have been learning the hard way (i.e. very slowly) and have made many mistakes. Originally I created a 'ZigNAS' volume, but eventually, due to my various mistakes I tried to delete that and create another volume called 'Zig_NAS' (so as to be sure I was distinguishing it from the original or possible the system told me it was already created, I'm not sure). Right now what I want to do is to wipe those hard drives of any pools/volumes etc and start again. This is because I think that because the mirror is showing as 2.6 Tb instead of 3 - which it used to do - that there is the original pool there that I just can't see. When I use the 'mount' command I get:
root@freenas ~]# mount
freenas-boot/ROOT/Wizard-2015-10-24_20:33:19 on / (zfs, local, noatime, nfsv4acl
s)
devfs on /dev (devfs, local, multilabel)

So, if someone can give me a complete process for clearing the drives I would greatly appreciate that. Have thought of removing the drives and using GParted in my windows machine to reformat them, but obviously want to avoid this and think there must be a simpler way?

You'll never see 3TB - it's a marketing trick.

A 3TB disk yields about 2.7TiB of usable storage. With FreeNAS overhead, it'll be a little less.

This is because I think that because the mirror is showing as 2.6 Tb instead of 3 - which it used to do - that there is the original pool there that I just can't see.

It should be. A 3 TB disk has a capacity of 2.7 TiB, minus some ZFS overhead and reserved space. You do not at this point have a ZigNAS volume connected to the system. But if you really do want to wipe the disks and start over, do what @hugovsky suggested--go to Storage in the web GUI, click on your pool, click the Detach button (at the bottom, with a red X), and check the box for Mark Disks as New.

Thanks people. I was half afraid to do that in case I was doing the wrong. I'll report back.

Ok, done. Many many thanks. I'm amazed at the available help, but utterly gob-smacked by the speed at which you have responded. Now ... on to some further learning. I could stay here for days just asking questions, but I guess I need to rtfm a bit more too. Anyone know when version 10 will be released and if it will be a simple upgrade from 9.3 or will that require a complete reinstall and config? I'll post this in another area of the forums if considered inappropriate for this one.
