So after logging into my TrueNAS box today, I discovered this my result of smartctl -a on ada2:

...I would assume that ada2 is pooched. The odd thing is that the pool isn't listed as degraded...any idea why?

Just to make sure I have everything right, am I right in saying this is the procedure:

1. Offline the drive in FreeNAS, then shut down
2. Restart the machine, online the drive
3. Select 'replace drive' in the GUI, select it and wait for the re-silver

Am I missing anything? Thanks for the help!

  1. Offline ada2. Assuming your box doesn't have the capability to hot swap disks, shutdown.
  2. Remove ada2. Install new ada2. Restart your box.
  3. Select 'replace drive' in the GUI, and select ada2. Wait for the resilver to complete.
