Hello forum

Can an external USB-disk attached directly to a FreeNAS-box in order to be able to copy data from and to
a volume? Is this possible within the GUI of FreeNAS? With drag/drop?

Thank you!

Joe

I am new to FreeNAS and do not yet own a FreeNAS-box

You will find this and much more in the user guide. Please take some time to skim through and you will find a great deal of this information.

No, there are no file management capabilities in the FreeNAS web GUI.
You could mention Midnight Commander. Not drag and drop but it is partially mouse enabled.

You should avail yourself of the opportunity to learn as much as you can, in preparation for the day when you do have one. Look up Midnight Commander and you will find that it is a text based file management utility. You can SSH into a FreeNAS system and use Midnight Commander from the command line.

True. Not drag-and-drop, nor within the GUI, but a bit simpler (in some cases) than just typing commands at the shell.
