So, today, i was using the NAS and unzipped a file. When i opened the folder, it led me to the root directory. Not sure why as it never happened before in 3yrs of time. So, i deleted that folder and it started to delete a number of files so i stopped it. I thought maybe its some kind of cache issue so i restarted the NAS. Now, the data is still present and the folder i deleted is deleted but I'm not sure if this action has deleted any of my data in this pool and neither i remember the other data correctly neither have a screenshot or something to compare.

Is there any way by which i can just know which files were exactly deleted from the pool? By this way i can get to know if this action has deleted something important.

I mean this with respect, and when it comes to technology and software forums it can get annoying to constantly have to use more precise language. But following your message is difficult.

So it's understood: Were you using an SMB network share on a Windows, Linux, or Mac client?

When i opened the folder, it led me to the root directory.
I don't understand what this means.

This is ambiguous. Deleted what folder? The recently extracted folder from the .zip archive file? Stopped what? The deletion task of your client's file explorer? Why? Did you see a list of files being deleted that were not part of the extracted folder? You mean that it started to delete everything on your network share?

Now, the data is still present and the folder i deleted is deleted but I'm not sure if this action has deleted any of my data in this pool and neither i remember the other data correctly neither have a screenshot or something to compare.
What data? The data you thought it was deleting, but didn't actually delete? Or that you know it deleted some important files, yet you stopped it before more damage was done?

You can do this with snapshots. Did you have any snapshots of the relevant dataset(s)?

I understand, just new here so please bear with me. I'll rephrase everything for the sake of clarity.

So, today, I was using the NAS through my Mac which has SMB Share and unzipped a file (striker.zip) on the Network share itself.

When I opened the folder, instead of showing me its contents, it directly opens the Network share root directory. I disconnected and tried to access the (striker) folder again but every time I did this, instead of opening the actual folder, it kept opening the Network share root directory of the pool. Not sure why as it never happened before in 3yrs of time.

So, I deleted the extracted folder (striker) and it started to delete a number of files (around 151 number of files) as these were not part of the (striker) folder so I stopped it. I'm aware of the striker folder as I accessed it a couple of months ago so very well aware of its contents. I thought maybe its some kind of cache issue so I restarted the NAS.

Now, the data is still present and the folder (striker) I deleted is deleted but I'm not sure if this action has deleted any of my data in this pool neither I remember the other data correctly nor have a screenshot of the directories or something to compare.

Is there any way by which I can just know which files were exactly deleted from the pool? In this way, I can get to know if this action has deleted something important.

Unless you have snapshots or a recent backup, then there's no way to tell.

How did you configure this share? What settings did you use? Did you share the actual "root" dataset of the pool?

Only other option would be if the recycle bin is enabled for the share then there might be a chance to see what was deleted. That's the only thing I can think of.
