Hello all,

I am fairly new to Freenas. Loving it so far and I am learning a lot of new things coming from Windows Home Server.

One of my favorites is Plex! I use it often and have it set up on a lot of my devices with all my media stored on Freenas.

I was reading some different things on the Plex Plugin and found https://github.com/mstinaff/PMS_Updater as a good way to make sure my Plex is update to date.

I ran that and it worked great! Now my question is, how do I set it up as a cron job? I never set one up before so I would like to have this set up to check on a weekly or monthly basis.

Can anyone help with that? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

You might want to be careful with automating that. Things occasionally change with FreeNAS and/or Plex, breaking that script, requiring it to be updated before things work again.

That script is a very unofficial way of keeping PMS updated, especially in FreeNAS. I opted to use a generic jail and just install PMS manually within that. Then I can just use the standard/official FreeBSD ports updating procedures. It wasn't much more work than using the plugin.
