Hi all,

First post here, and I hope it won't be the last, since I am really starting to love Freenas and the whole ZFS deal..
I am no IT guy just someone familiar with NASes like Synology and who knows a little bit about linux. Or the concept of it, at least :p

I'm new to Freenas and here is what I am trying to accomplish with 8.02 and CIFS. I'm really having trouble with permissions for:

A) a share with all my movies with RO guestuser access and RW for meuser account
B) a share for all my PCs' backups created with Acronis and w7 features. (Nonbrowsable, access for userme only).
C) a totally private, non-browsable share for userme
D) a home for coworkers to store their documents in.
E) a share for co-workers
F) a way for my customers to have an FTP access where they are chrooted to their home
G) an anonymous FTP access to serve my public docs etc...
H) Finally, an iSCSI target volume to tinker with.

I have created one big RAID-Z2 pool, containing:
-ZFS Dataset:
A) Media
B) Backups
C) Personal
D+F?) Homes
E) Corporate
G) Anonymous

-ZFS volume:
H) future iSCSI target

I am totally lost on the permissions to grant each dataset, each CIFS share.
When to create a group, when to create a user, and when to assign either to a dataset / CIFS share. Should permissions be recursive ?

Do I need to create a dataset per user for the homes / FTP customer access ?

Thanks a lot in advance for your replies, I really hope to get this up and running during the week !
