What is best option from these:

  • Stripe: requires at least one disk
  • Mirror: requires at least two disks
  • RAIDZ1: requires at least three disks
  • RAIDZ2: requires at least four disks
  • RAIDZ3: requires at least five disks

You might check the User Guide at the top of the page...

Also, why are you still on 9.10?

When I choose Mirror it gives me only 3.63 TB and when I choose RaidZ2 it gives me 7.27 TB - should I create 2 x Mirror volumes? That does not make any sense - why not use all 8 in one volume in mirror

For VMware, you should run mirrors. That means you only get half the space but it's much faster.

I have stuck in creating volume "Mirror" and if I have 8 disks (2TB) each I should have about 8TB in Mirror - correct? I have tried many times, deleting-wipeing hard drives and still no luck. Now I even have 1.82TB using all 8 x 2TB hard drives each

this is crazy, its either 9.10 stable bug or something else, I have one more separate volume with 3TB hdds and that is detected and in the mirror like it should be. Should I install 11.2 STABLE version and try then?

I have created one Volume by adding two drive 2TB+2TB and in that way it works, choosing all 8 gave me only 1.82TB

I sounds like you trying to setup an 8 way mirror. 2x2TBx4 is what you want. TRo verify the pool was created correctly, please provide the output from zpool list -v
You not encountering bugs, you just are not understanding the UI.

Again, is there a reason that your running 9.10 instead of 11.1? there have been some major improvements.

That looks perfect. Now just follow the user guide on setting up iSCSI.

I have that already set up .... the next step would be upgrading freenas from 9.10 to 11.2

Why do you want to update to a beta?
