I've installed 9.2.1.6 about 2 weeks ago and installed CP from the installable plugin list.
I note that in the plugin menu, it says it's version 2.0 - they are up to 2.5.2 on the CP web page.

I figured though it was newer, because when you go into the CP about menu it says
Version :e75a8529c99996a0ba20fdcf83d424b6597bc3f8 (17/7/2014 8:26:23 pm)
Updater :source, master
ID : 5118

I (wrongly) assumed that it was infact quite up to date, I admit running from source did seem kind of crazy to me, what if there's bugs.
None the less, that's not the case, CP is well out of date and the updater tool doesn't work after all.

I just logged a bug with the CP people, and wasted one of their developers time, because I thought I was up to date.
Is there any plan to update the plugin at some point and or is there any way to make the update buttons within the plugin actually update the version?

Ignore the version in the plugins panel. e75a8529c99996a0ba20fdcf83d424b6597bc3f8 is the current commit on github.com/RuudBurger/CouchPotatoServer/ so you are indeed upto date

You are using the current version, it's updated from git and that is the current commit. Going by your post on the couchpotato forums assuming your couchpotato jail location is "/mnt/ARRAY/jails/couchpotato_1/" you'll find blackhole.py under "/mnt/ARRAY/jails/couchpotato_1/usr/pbi/couchpotato-amd64/share/couchpotato/CouchPotatoServer/couchpotato/core/downloaders/" hopefully that will help you out.

supremicus, did you actually read the bug report on github and the thread on the couchpotato forums? I'm in that precise path, the file doesn't exist.
Reason why: = read this thread in full.

Quote from one of the main developers of CP.
If you have a subfolder for blackhole. You are using an old version of CP. Please update. Update first and let me know if you still have the issue.

I did infact read it, i didn't see that screenshot however. It appears something got messed up on your installation, also you're missing the media user. I'm on the same pbi and my directory looks like http://i.imgur.com/OI6Y2f3.png

2 options i can think of create a user with User ID = 816 Username/Group = media and reinstall the plugin then update in couchpotato webui should bring it up to date

or you could jexec into the jail, shutdown the service, "cd /usr/pbi/couchpotato-amd64/share/couchpotato/", "rm -rf CouchPotatoServer" directory and do "git clone git://github.com/RuudBurger/CouchPotatoServer.git CouchPotatoServer" restart couchpotato and you'll be upto date

Ok fair call - would either of those 2 options damage my settings?

Removing the plugin will. Config and db are located in /usr/pbi/couchpotato-amd64/etc/couchpotato/ you can make a copy and just copy it back later if you reinstall the plugin. Git way won't touch it, it's just copying the source back.

Ok going to investigate this.
One other thing, it clearly states "2.5.2" on the couchpotato website, yet the plugin notes "2.0" in FreeNAS? You're positive the normal plugin is up to date?

The plugin is version 2, the source gets updated via git in the couchpotato webui just like sickbeard etc

Exactly, ignore the FreeNAS plugin version. It doesn't mean anything for most of my plugins which are rolling release straight from github.

I didn't get time on the weekend, so I'm probably going to run through this tonight, hoping to fix up the problem.
I've got a script which will back up my movies - but not my configuration - so I'm going to copy out what I can, just in case - I've spent too much time getting it just right (Except the Blackhole bug of course)

1) I don't see a FreeNAS issue anywhere. What are you asking for?
2) Why are you using the blackhole method? CouchPotato can speak using both SABnzbd's and Transmission's APIs

1, did you read the original post, properly? Don't get snarky
2, because transmission isn't very good and ... it's out of date (2.82 vs 2.84).... so I'm using blackhole.

Im confused, the source the plugin ships doesn't need to be up to date, CouchPotato autoupdates itself.

From your OP, how else do you run it other than from source?

Ok, I'll assume there's nothing I need to fix with the FreeNAS plugin then.

Just noticed there's releases at https://github.com/RuudBurger/CouchPotatoServer/releases
I'll put this on my todo list to adapt the plugin to use these.
EDIT
Hmm, nevermind, they're just tags so won't make a difference.

Ahh are you actually the one who maintains the plugin(s)? for CP?
I wonder why mine broke in the first place, is there a log file I can find / supply which will help you out?

Yes I wrote / maintain it.
not sure how your user got deleted. Did you update FreeNAS? I would assume jail upgrades may overwrite the user database.
