suddenly I cant connect to the gui anymore.

I tried:

systemctl restart nginx
systemctl restart middlewared

still the same, its an unmanaged network and I am connected trough the same switch from a Win10 machine/Win7/KDE Neon/Android Phone

Can you document the software version and then go through standard diagnostics..... network, are all processes running, etc.?

SCALE 21.06, network and services continue to work without a problem, I can connect per SSH and can probe for what ever you want me to.
IDK how to check if "all processes" are running...

Output of "top" command would be interesting, but feel free to report a bug after trying a reboot.
I haven't heard of anyone else with this issue...

something seems to be terrible wrong.

I set up 21.04, upgraded to 21.06, everything went fine, a few days back I wanted to check in
and realized that I cant log in, yesterday I had time to try to get in, here we are. Didn't change anything.

After reboot, still no webUI?
I'd suggest filing a bug report... then trying to reinstall 21.06.

You might look through the 21.08 bug fixes to see if there are any relevant fixes. I could not see anything:

@morganL These all seem to be related to reports of inaccessible webgui or extremely slow or sluggish webUI. Common thread seems to be asyncio_loop / middlewareD consuming CPU. I've seen it popup related to catalog sync, but it happens after restarts as well

Others have tried troubleshooting this with @waqarahmed I believe

After a reboot leave it for about 20min and try again. IF by any chance is the catalog sync that slows it down, it should be done after 20min.

EDIT: It shouldn't take too long because truecharts pruned older versions and made the catalog easier/faster to sync. There is also some work on 21.08 that fixes this and the sync does not block the whole system.

On my end I had to enable NSURLSession Websocket under experimental features in Safari on my Apple devices to fix this issue. It only happened when I try logging in through https. Http was fine, but if you have redirect http to https enabled then you may not have that option.

There is already a fix in the master branch which will be in the next RC release,
so this should be solved now.

Lifting this again.

I run Truenas Scale on a HPE Microserver gen10 plus, 32Gb ram
Have the same problem with the webgui.
I only use one of the 4 Intel nic.

I too have now started to get this.
It's times like this that I wish I'd kept SSH active.
