Hi,
I've tried 8.0-RELEASE and I met this problem: http://support.freenas.org/ticket/456 so I just installed 8.0.1-BETA4 and it looks worse. The only way I can configure a SMB share is to allow guest access and give rwxrwxrwx permissions on files and directories, which doesn't make sense.
Just to make sure here is what I did to test:

Just to make sure here is what I did to test:
- I have opened an ssh session using my username/password to make sure this combo works
 - I increased the cifs logging to normal
 - I tested the share with smbclient on linux (smbclient --user username //freenas\\share)
 - Here is what I got in the logs: check_ntlm_password: Authentication for user [username] -> [username] FAILED with error NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
