Hello,

I'm having an issue where my CIFS session to my box is getting disconnected while the server is busy with a heavy AFP traffic.

I'm looking at the CPU usage on my Core 2 Duo machine and ~50% of the cpu is going to afpd.

The cpu load goes as high as 6.xx and seems to starve the CIFS deamon. I'm not sure what I can do to solve this, but its killing my access to the server based on the usage by another machine and it seems like the server shouldn't be affected by the activity of one user.

A little more info

I'm trying to copy about 400GB to the server from a Mac and that operation is going smoothly. I have another machine running Win7 and have a drive attached as a network share mapped to a drive. When I go to access it, there are sometimes very significant delays (10s of seconds). When I was trying to change permissions on a batch of files, it said that the drive was not accessible and failed. When copying files from an external device to the server (iphone -> drag drop images to folder on server) the file copy stalls part way though.

Now I don't experience any of these issues when the server load is low. This leads me to believe that the CIFS access is getting limited cpu access and timing out or something.

Any suggestions on how to solve this?
