Hello, I have just installed FreeNAS for the first time. I am on version 11.3 and I I am trying to browse plugins. When I click on the option above it says I need to choose a pool, but I want to install plugins on the same drive as where I installed the OS. This doesn't seem to be an option, leaving me to believe that I may have configured something wrong during installation. Is there a way to do what I am trying to do or do I need to start over?

Thank you.

Welcome to the forums!

No, you didn't do anything wrong - in its vanilla form, FreeNAS devotes the OS drive to that function alone and nothing else can be installed on that drive. This is clearly explained in the system documentation. There are advanced installation configurations discussed in the forum here that avoid that constraint but a new user might be advised to avoid them until more conversant with an operating FreeNAS installation.

Best you tell us your hardware configuration and seek some specific advice.

I am using a supermicro 1u server. Atom processor, 4 core, 8 threads. 32 GBs of RAM. Currently the OS is installed on a 32 GB usb drive. Server has 4x6TB NAS drives in a Z2 (was the recommended configuration) raid.

OK. you need to create a pool on on the NAS drives if you haven't already done so.

I greatly doubt your OS drive is large enough to suggest you should think/attempt to use it for anything else except the OS. If you want to consider using something like a 128 GB SSD or larger for your boot drive you can look here https://www.ixsystems.com/community...-of-larger-ssds-for-boot-pool-and-data.81409/ for more information.
