Update, in case someone is searching for the same:
2x Micron 4GB PC3-10600 DDR3-1333 ECC UDIMM ~38USD
4x 8gb Kingston KVR1333D3E9SK2/16G ~60USD
Supermicro X10SLL-F for ~50USD
i3 4360 cpu "new" ~40USD
Intel Xeon CPU E3-1241 v3 @3.5ghz 80USD

Prices in USD but purchase made in E.U. market.

Hi Folks,
May I ask for an advise?
I am searching a supermicro board which will fit in a node 804 case, so should be smaller than ATX.
With ECC ram support
Intel NIC 1gbit
2x PCIe x8
and a CPU with ECC support, min 2 cores, >2.0Ghz

Already available:
PSU
Discs
HBA in IT-mode
Case

Purpose:
1. shall be cheap, 2nd hand is ok
2. shall only take backups from other FN machine, no jails, no VMs

was looking for an i3 but i am confused with all that chipset and socket versions. I have in mind that an LGA1150 i3 will also work with C222 chipset but would be great to get another perspective.

So do you have any hints, advises or ideas?

You can find a motherboard + CPU combination for a lot less than $150.
X9SCL-F are available for less than $50. add in a base i3 or even a pentium or celeron with ECC support(~$30)

Total cost shouldn't be more than $80

The one I pointed out includes the system board with IO shield; CPU with fan cooler and 8GB of RAM.

the market in the E.U. is not like yours
something I would have tried to account for if you'd said that you were in the EU

got a Supermicro X10SLL-F for ~50USD
what CPU is preferred?
Will an i3 or Pentium G series work with the C220 chip on the board?

As long as it is a CPU from the 4th generation (Haswell) it should work. Examples of CPU's I had running on a SuperMicro motherboard (X10SL7-F) from the same generation as your motherboard: i3-4130T and Pentium G3240. By the way: I still have that Pentium running in my own backup server and it is plenty for that job. It handles the replication tasks without a problem and rsync works OK as well.
