Can't login with SSH (root) after 12.0U3 update!

Hello.

After 12.0U3 Update I can no longer login with root / ssh.
I already checked that under SSH service settings the "permit root login" is flagged, I restarted SSH daemon, I checked /etc/ssh/sshd_config and everything seems ok (just like before the update) but I can't login with root anymore!
The error simply says: permission denied, please try again

Any suggestions?

Update: I noticed that if using the GUI/Shell if I try with: ssh -l root 127.0.0.1 I can login without problems.
It seems I can't login remotely (same local network), are there restrictions maybe?

...please, consider the issue resolved: find out that pasting the password within the terminal resulted out with strange ASCII symbols before the password itself... restarted a clean terminal session (MacOsx) and now I can login again.
Sorry for that.
