Cannot figure out SMB shares

I've been using TrueNAS for nearly a year at this point, and I don't know if I'm expecting too much, but I can't get some aspects of it to work the way that I would like it to work. I am currently having two issues which are different, but sort of the same.

Issue 1: I have set up a user and a Share that I have multiple windows clients I would like to be able to view (mostly family pictures/videos) but not alter or delete. I have set up this user exactly as I have for another user, and set up the permissions the same as another user on the system. The problem is that with the new user I cannot view anything in the share, though it allows me to login, when I click on the folder in Windows 10/11 it does nothing. Here are images of my setup;

ACL(s):

So as I stated before when I login from my Windows machine (using the dads login) I can browse through those directories as expected. When I login with the mom user name I can't browse any folders at all.

Issue 2:
The second issue is that the login for Dad doesn't really work. I have Nextcloud on my mobile uploading all my pictures and videos taken and putting them on the server. On my windows computer I sync with Nextcloud and want to move those files from NextCloud to the pictures folder so that they are stored on my NAS and "protected." I would love for "dad" to be able to login create a new folder in pictures and upload files. Once I logoff I would like that folder to then be changed to root, so that it can't be edited/changed/deleted by "dad" or any other user. This may be outside the scope of this post, but if there was a way to move them from Nextcloud without having to do these acrobatics that would be great also.

Thank yoi n advance.

So is it a dumb question, not clear on the question(s), or am I asking for too much?

I would delete everything and start over all permissions and users if you set your permissions correctly should work leave all the default ACLs as is don't touch anything just add 2 new for specific user and basic role (read only/full control) works for me.
