I upgraded to FreeNAS 9.3 STABLE last night. Today, I deleted my old user and created a new user account because there was no way in the FreeNAS gui to rename my account.

Now I am unable to connect to my CIFS share from Windows. It tells me access denied. I know the username/password is correct because ssh works. I have recursively set permissions on the entire volume to be owned by the user and the user's main group.

I'm at a loss for what else to try. Suggestions?

1. make the owner and group of the dataset match the new user you created.
2. make sure the owner has read/write/execute permissions.
3. verify that the owner and group are correct on the dataset by ssh'ing into freenas and doing a ls -l. <= this is where I think you went wrong. I bet some of them have the wrong uid.
4. if that doesn't work reboot your windows box.
