I'm not sure you would prefer that the jail has access to your data without permission being granted...

It's not hard to do, just make sure your jail user running radarr has the same UID as the one on FreeNAS.

Sure, let’s give a random piece of open source software, preferably one for pirating content, unrestricted access to all your content on the NAS!!?

If you're referring to the DevOps submodel where they just don't bother worrying about security or proper configuration and just blow it all wide open so that things work without all the effort involved in doing it right.. and so when they do this on some compute cloud, they create an attractive nuisance.

That's the kind of thing that has put the Internet and compsci world on a fast track to requiring licensing and certification.

You *can* loosen permissions with FreeNAS. But the question is if you should. I think @sretalla and @garm made that point already though.

It would be nice if you'd try to appreciate that many of us who work on the Internet feel some deep responsibility to be careful and cautious in the things we do and the things we put out there. Similarly, I expect that the developers at iX, and plugin developers probably feel that they owe you a system that offers standard levels of security, because to do otherwise is irresponsible.

You are faulting FreeNAS/iXsystems for doing the correct thing as per the Unix filesystem standard. Either learn the correct way to administer permissions or 777 all the things and be damned the consequences.
