Having used ZFS in a Solaris environment I've noticed that no one has mentioned using an SSD as a caching drive for FreeNAS.
Is that feature of ZFS not supported?

I figure it can be done on the command line even if the web interface does not show it.

I surely like to see somebody take their reference system, step-by-step add memory, then ZIL and Cache to show the impact. My testing motherboard is only 32bit with only a few G of RAM, so I think it's not a useful benchmark. I plan to do some benchmarking when I upgrade my 2nd NAS to Ver8 in a few weeks..just need a few more T's of offline storage.

I think it's just a waste of money to put SSD to 32-bit systems without upgrading CPU and motherboard first...

Also, it's advisable to add as much as possible RAM before exploring SSD as L2ARC cache, most of the case that helps more than L2ARC, and keep in mind, L2ARC also requires more RAM to support.
