Building my first FreeNAS Box

Hi everyone,

I want to build my first FreeNAS to store my movie. I also want to install SabNZBd+ on it and Plex Media server as well (but i haven't found a great link for that yet). My Question is, is the hardware that I put together going to do the job ? I haven't bought the components yet.

CPU: AMD A6-6400K
Motherbord: ASRock FM2A85X-ITX
PSU: Corsair CX500M Modulair
Memory: Corsair XMS3 8GB DDR3-1600 CL9 Kit
SSD: Crucial M4 32GB
Case: Fractal Design Node 304
HDD: 6 x Western Digital Caviar Green 3 TB

Hope you guys can help me.

See the sticky about hardware suggestions and read the manual regarding RAM requirements. Assuming you are planning to use ZFS you'll need at least 16Gb RAM. And ECC is strongly recommended, so you'll need to have mobo and cpu that will support ECC.

Regarding the apps, both are available as FreeNAS PBIs: http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/Available_FreeNAS®_PBIs.

You'll want to download the PDF of the Guide for your version of FreeNAS and skim through the Plugins and the Jails chapter to decide which best suits your needs.
