I'm looking to build a very budget server. Only need 2 HDD, and they don't have to be huge.

It's for my home, I want to be able to stream all my music/movies to my wife's laptop, my ps3, and our desktop computer. Currently I have all the date I would like to stream on an external HDD 500GB but eventually. It's a pain in the a$$ to have to transfer it from my ps3, to the computer every time I wanna listen to music/movies in the other location.

Well enough about why I'm building it... let's see the build.

At my place of work we sell some Lenovo products, and they work fairly well for our clients, so I figured at the price of #300 for a pre-build server, I'd start there.

Lenovo ThinkServer TS130 Tower Server System Intel Core i3-3220 3.3GHz 2C/4T 4GB No Hard Drive 1105B2U (
$300)

For hard Drives I'm going with
2x western digital red WD10EFRX 1TB intellipower (2x $80 (160))

Now seeing as I'm going to be streaming music/movies 4gb of Ram is a little low.
so I'm going to at least pick up one of these lenovo memory 4GB ($31)

Putting my Rough Price tag at $ 491 + Tax + Shipping.

What are your opinions? should I use the Lenovo Server or should I build my own? If i build my own, i would want it to be cheaper for the same rough end product, or same price for a better end product.

My budget is around 500-600 (some leeway if there is something that looks completely must have).

Thanks in advance,
Tai Allen

My only comment is 8gb of ram is considered minimum for freenas zfs setups..
