So I have perhaps a silly question re: bridges. What is the best approach to set them up via the GUI?
Let's say we have two 10GbE SFP+ interfaces and 2 1GbE on the motherboard. I want to bridge the two 10GbE interfaces to potentially eliminate the need for my Mikrotik switch by daisychaining devices. I note that the console doesn't seem to give a bridge option re: network setup, but I am happy to be wrong on that one.
I was able to set up a bridge via the CLI. Turns out there already was a "stealth" bridge as part of a jail install. I got said bridge to work but this being a CLI "hack" I also worry that on the next reboot, all that work will have to be redone.
So, is the "best" approach to activate one of the 1GbE ports, log into the GUI that way, then configure the bridge from inside the GUI for the two currently-unused 10GbE interfaces? Perhaps nuke the jail first to eliminate that "bridge", since it might add to the confusion? Or, do I just redo the rc.conf as described here to make permanent my CLI hackery?
I just want the bridge to be stable and act as a bridge.
