Brand new Seagate Ironwolf, weird modem sounds, did I win the lottery?

Just wanted to hear opinion before RMA, if there is anything else I can try..

Can't see this disk in Truenas to replace a failed one. Then I tried to plug it into my Windows desktop machine just in case it was power delivery or something, same thing.. I can see it in the device manager but can't initialize it. I got lucky eh?

You must have good hearing, I couldn't hear anything at all in that video. I should also add I do have a fairly significant hearing loss though.

There is a loud screeching noise right at the first 10 seconds And then a repeated pattern for the rest of it. That pattern then goes on for a minute or two and the whole thing repeats.

I could hear the sound. It's the heads trying to load and find some data. It's constantly loading, seeking, unloading, rinse & repeat. This is a failure of the hard drive and basically the same thing as the clicking death noise, just a higher pitch.

I wouldn't use it in a NAS, but maybe you can ask Seagate to keep it despite the refund and give it a second life in a orchestra like this :
