Benefits of virtualbox + freenas on another OS?
Question: What is the benefit of running a production FN in VirtualBox on my desktop?
I have searched this, but most links are about how to do it for testing purposes.
Question: is there any value in running a FN virtualbox version full time on my linux box as a backup?
Background: I have happily setup my main FN box (see sig below) and now want to set up my ubuntu 11.04 with a RAIDz to backup my FN. My desktop specs are close to my FN box, with a faster processor and 8 GB ram. I do like the ZFS options and would like to have it on my linux box, and the native setup is a bit primitive at the moment (http://zfsonlinux.org/). Given that I have 8 GB of RAM on my desktop, is that going to unduly tax the system? Any suggestions on setting up native ZFS for ubuntu (a GUI would be ideal)?
Thanks!
