My dedicated hardware running Truenas had a major hardware failure and is now KIA. While I decide what hardware build I will do next i was wondering if anyone knows if Truenas can be run on Windows 11 as a Linux subsystem? I don't want to run it in VirtualBox rather run it in background like its a background service. The PC i want to run it on is very beefy so loading is not a concern.

Any thoughts?

Not likely to impossible. TrueNAS Core is FreeBSD-based, and won't run on a Linux platform, virtual or otherwise. TrueNAS Scale is Debian-based, but isn't engineered to run in the background as a Windows service.

Please have a look at the "Virtualization" link in the recommended readings of my signature for additional information.
