Badblocks test

Hi,
Ran a badblocks test about 8 hours ago and I've got up to here:

Is this something to be worried about?

That's a bad disk or at least a disk with major problems.

What does SMART say? I imagine it'll be full of errors.

The percentage thing would appear to be 32 bit rollover or something like that. But yeah it looks like there could be bad blocks.

Hi again guys, I started another badblocks test on another hard disk and I get this.

It's been doing this for a good 40 hours at least. Is this sign of badblocks on the disk or should I let it carry on with the test?

I'd stop bad blocks. And first run a short and long test on all drives.. . my guess is one isn't going to pass

Notice that when you posted the SMART data you got a timeout. That's a bad disk, bad SATA cable, bad SATA controller or bad power to the hard drive when the command was requested.

So I went to change the SATA port the disk was connected to and the disk in the first image which wouldn't complete the badblocks test managed to finish it this time. I presume the SMART information says the disk is fine as everything completed without errors.

How do I stop a badblocks test? I started a badblocks test using putty and tmux, and I am getting errors. I wish to stop the test on the drive without shutting down the machine. How can I do that?
