FreeNas is used as home server primarily for storage.
Primary pool (tank) consists of RAIDZ1 with 3 WD RED 2TB drives.
This pool is replicated nightly to second single drive ZFS pool (bk-tank) on the same server. Yes, I recognize the risks, but have limited budget right now. This provides protection if primary pool fails. I decided to use ZFS because it will also replicate snapshots and will protect from bit-rot. If that happens, I can re-replicate from primary pool.
Weekly rsync is done to another linux(or freebsd) server. If both pools fails, I can use this to restore from.
Weekly crashplan to cloud storage. I will use this if my house burns down or in the event of both NAS and Linux servers getting trashed by power surge or similar event.
