hello,
my setup is so complex, i am running many services... jails etc... each using diff dataset etc etc.

While thinking about some centralized backup solution, i am still not clear... whats the best approach ... to backup service with jails
or to execute "backup solution directly" from truenas?

Is there some best practice / recommendation for that? to run some jail /? that can access all datasets... ?

thx

What about a sane snapshot task? I wouldnt consider a snapshot a backup, but you dont mention wanting to physically copy data to a separate pool/server/disk which I would consider a backup. In many cases snapshots are plenty.

Exactly. Like I wrote in that other thread. Just snapshot and replicate. That's why you are using ZFS ...
