Sorry if this is in the wrong section!

When I bought our storage servers, they came with dual port HBA's and the backplanes seem to have dual ports as well, but one a single cable is used.

Is there much of an advantage to running dual port to the back plane?

I would need dual port sas drives to take advantage of this correct? But i'm only using sata drives so there will be no advantage?

No, the SAS backplane makes everything work. There is no such thing as dual port SAS drives.

SATA has no advantage at all.
