SOLVED Appropriate Configuration Temperatures for SMART?

The S.M.A.R.T service has everything disabled by default. What are the best practices for this?

I read that Seagate says that drive temps should not exceed 69C.

So I was thinking of setting

Difference: 0
Informational:60
Crititical:65

Thoughts?

For the drive temperature, you can read this:

The idea would be to keep your drive temperature below 40°C if you want to maximize its life time.
So critical: 40°C
Informational: maybe few degrees over the usual value, if your drives are at 30°C then the threshold could be 37°C

For the community: as of 11.1-5 there is no built-in GUI for drive temps. But you can run this at the cmd line.

freenas-debug -S | grep "Temperature_"

My WD Reds, Dont appear to update the VALUE and WORST fields correctly, but looking at the RAW_VALUE in the last field appears to be correct.

e.g. Current = 122 and Worst = 112. Wrong!
RAW_VALUE = 28

So, im running a bit hot due to my passive cooling system using a UCoustic rack.

Those are fine temperatures. ;-)

My 6 drives are between 29°C and 34°C. I'd like to improve that because when the external temperature rises a bit so does the drive temperature! The server is in a tiny closed space with no much (fresh) airflow... ;-(
