Anyone written a comprehensive permissions guide for dummies?

Permissions is a bit confusing to setup. Numerous dos and don'ts like don't FTP into a Windows share it will mess up permissions. Or, Do all your windows permission from a windows client, but some people go with using unix permission for it. etc.

Has anyone written a comprehensive permissions guide for dummies? (For someone that has no understanding of both unix and windows permissions.) I remember cyberjock mentioning about writing one but I haven't seen it yet.

Not that I'm aware of as it quickly turns into a very large document.

However, you should always fine-tune the perms from a Windows client and NOT use Unix permissions as these will clobber the ACLs (which is why the GUI won't let you revert from Windows to Unix perms).
