Those of us playing with the VirtualBox jail are loving it, but also realize that we're using quite an old version of VB:

Has anyone compiled a more recent version? VirtualBox is now up to 5.x series now. It'd be great to try this out. I'm happy to beta test!

I noticed that too, late last night when I tried to go ahead and create my own from the pkg-ng files. :-(

I agree an update would be good but is there a feature or functionality missing from the version of virtualbox we use?

So i have a problem with my Ubuntu 64 LTE "Aborting" after a reboot I was about to post about it and found this.

The latest version 'Might' requires the latest version of BSD?
On that assumption and that your running 9.3 FreeNAS you will need to find the last version of virtualbox-ose that was compatible with 9.3
You will also need to find the latest version of phpvirtualbox that was compatible with the virtualbox-ose you installed.
There will probably be a bucket load more dependencies you would have to work through.
The most obvious hurdle for me would be compiling the replacement kernel.

Background info can be found here https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/virtualbox-in-a-jail-in-freenas.20185/

Happy to test if someone has half a clue.

I installed Ubuntu 15.10 without problems on VirtualBox 4.3.12.

That said, VB4.3 itself seems a bit unstable. While the VMs ran fine, I encountered problems when I tried to shut them down. I read your thread and it appears similar. Shutting a VM down would leave it in a hanging state.

Apparently it's normal if you don't shut the VM down the fix I added has it working lovely.
