Recently I've had two instances where my toddler found the power button of my server early in the morning and initiated a graceful shutdown without my knowing until much later in the day. I've mitigated this by disabling the power button momentary press functionality, but I'd still like to know if FreeNAS provides some way of alerting me by email that the server is shutting down. I've looked at the available alerts and nothing leaps out at me. I know I could implement something myself fairly easily, but before I do I just wanted to make sure that I'm not expending unnecessary effort.
On a related note, I've also had two jails fail to start due to the mount paths in their fstab somehow changing since installation from /mnt/iocage/ to /mnt/pool/iocage/; I've fixed that problem, but I didn't know that they'd failed to start until days later and so, again, does FreeNAS provide a way to alert via email if they fail to start? If not, I'm open to suggestions on how I might implement it. I know I could set up nagios monitoring or similar, but that seems like overkill.
