Hi all, am just having another go at TrueNAS Scale - previously haven't liked much the way the apps are done, but I see it's getting better. Thought I'd try VM's and put my dockers in there instead.
BTW I'm well used to ZFS, though haven't really used ZVOL's before. Since TrueNAS seems to mandate that ZVOL's are the only option for VM's unlike other OS's I am trying to set one up. However,
I can't set a sparse zvol within the VM setup wizard. All good, I CAN set one up by creating it manually in storage first then assigning the existing one at the VM setup stage. However, I can't set the VM to use the size of the Sparse ZVOL. It seems to limit itself to the actual remaining space of the array, rather than the remaining space of the sparse ZVOL. This is not how this should work as far as I know.
Am I misunderstanding something? I'm inclined to log a bug, but thought I'd ask first. Hopefully the Jira system isn't as slow as it used to be - that was fairly painful! :D
