I decided to setup a VM to test the replication so I don't mess up my current replication. Bold is dataset. Created periodic snapshot nextcloud recursive.
1) VM with same setup nextcloud, nextcloud/db, nextcloud/files, nextcloud/config, nextcloud/themes replicates to backup server
a) added directory nextcloud/test/ with file test in it. Running replication does not copy the nextcloud/test dir to the backup server
2) VM destroyed db, and files dataset and created regular directories db,files,config,themes. All replicates to backup server
b) added directory nextcloud/test/ with file test in it. Running replication does not copy the nextcloud/test dir to the backup server
There must be some concept I'm not getting as my current setup does backup new directories/files in a dataset
