I managed to set up Active Directory 2008 R2 to work with FreeNAS-9.3-STABLE-201501151844, but in GUI I can't see any Users or Groups.
wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g are showing users and groups in Shell but when I go to Assign user to DataStore I only see local users and groups. Also wbinfo -t is OK (checking the trust secret for domain DOMAIN via RPC calls succeeded)

Let me know if additional info is needed from me.

Thank you.

were either of you guys able to get this sorted out, I'm having same problem, using freenas 9.3 and windows server 2012.
getting the following error
unable to initialize domain list
Freenas box does connect to domain ok though
Any help would be appreciated

I got this working by changing to rid instead of ad

Divine and cymike on IRC helped fix this for me. Make sure that Idmap backend in advanced directory settings is set to RID. Reset it, rejoined the domain, and users came back for me.

Hi people,

I'm testing FreeNas 10 AD integration and I was able to join the FreeNas to the domain with an automatically creation of object in AD (computer) and I have registred correctly DNS in my internal DNS zone.

Right now, the problem that's that I'm not able to list the users and groups via GUI however via CLI, I'm checking with the "wbinfo -u" command that all the users from my AD are listed on it.

Someone can help me how can I fix this situation? Probably any configuration missing?

Thanks in advance and regards,
Pedro.

Start a new thread, post the full steps you performed to join your FreeNAS server to your domain.

I'm following this tutorial but no sucesse

issue below

[root@nas] /etc# wbinfo -t
could not obtain winbind interface details: WBC_ERR_WINBIND_NOT_AVAILABLE
could not obtain winbind domain name!
checking the trust secret for domain (null) via RPC calls failed
failed to call wbcCheckTrustCredentials: WBC_ERR_WINBIND_NOT_AVAILABLE
Could not check secret

Make sure you've enabled active directory by checking the "Enable" box under "Directory" -> "Active Directory", then clicking save.
