Access to the files from a snapshot

Unless I am confusing applications, I thought FreeNAS could make available a read-only share of a point-in-time snapshot. I don't see anything in the docs.

I know you can clone a snapshot and share it as a read/write dataset.

If you have CIFS enabled in the share you can export them out as previous versions for Windows clients

This is not exactly what I remember, but I could be wrong. I though I could create a share (NFS, CIFS, etc) pointing to a read-only copy of a snapshot.

If FreeNAS can't do this, then that is fine. My memory is definitely subject to bit-rot and is not ECC.

I found what I was remembering.

You can mount the snapshot on the ZFS box like this:
mount -t zfs tank/www@zfs-auto-snap_hourly-2012-02-11-1917 /mnt/snapshot/tank/www
Then you can share that mount point.

Should we allow this from the GUI?
