Sharing a snapshot

According to how I read the docs I don't think I can do what I am wanting but thought I would post this question to make sure there isn't something I am missing.

I was hoping to be able to take daily snapshots on my FreeNAS 9.3 of a dataset and share that through an NFS share. I want to create a Read Only share and mount the snapshots on another server so that I have quick file level access to my backup snapshots readily available.

After reading the docs I think I need to manually clone a snapshot then create a NFS share (a very manual process). Is that corrrect? If so, is there any work around that is not too overly radical that can get me what I want?

You could use CIFS and the Previous Versions feature.

I just read about Previous Versions (aka Volume Shadow Copy Service).

Sounds like it may be doable but might be a little hackish (no Windows clients involved, just want to mount on a linux server).
