A cautionary upgrade tale

I just upgraded my 11.2U8 to 11.3 and it went terribly wrong (wait a moment); the UI wouldn't show most of the content, the pool was dead, there was no response from the outside world, and none of the tools worked (or were even visible). The shell wouldn't come up and I started making plans for a re-install. I did re-load the backed-up config, and that was OK, but of limited use. The drives weren't visible, and I couldn't get anything to work, except at the very top level, which mostly depressed me by what it didn't show. Out of a lack of ideas, I tried accessing the UI from a freshly spun-up VM and lo! A new UI that didn't look much like the old UI, a pool that was happily awake, and a working system.

The moral of the story is: when the upgrade reboots your FreeNAS, *clear your browser cache!*

I confess to feeling slightly stupid at not thinking of the bleedin' obvious first...
