The multimedia version has command line versions of MiniDLNA, Firefly (iTunes), and Transmission bittorrent. They all need to be configured and used from the command line. There's a whole thread on configuring and using them.
The firmware update vs. servicepack update has been discussed and debated for awhile. Some think that "p1" type updates should be service pack updates, but so far there hasn't been any release that uses that feature. I think a few people have tried it by mistake and it just fails with an error about it not being a valid servicepack or something.
