I just finished my freenas build the other day and have been happy with the performance of the cifs shares, but after a day or two I noticed the size of the wired memory increasing. Now 59gb of my 64gb of memory has been wired. Is this normal? Can I still run, more plugins etc. with freenas wiring this much?

Sure you can use more.
Freenas always uses all available ram for arc cache

As @snaptec said, FreeNAS (based on FreeBSD) will consume as much space as it can for the ARC. If an application needs some memory then it will be freed up automatically. You can tell when you run out of RAM when your SWAP Utilization is no longer a zero value.
