Hello,

I have been experiencing this issue on two different FreeNAS boxes. The first user that I added has no issues login in to a share and adding files. The second and third users with the exact same settings can not access the same share. I setup each user, the share and CIFS settings following the documentation. The only variation is that I used ids and passwords that are not the users windows login credentials. If the first user works, I can not understand why any others will not work.

I a running FreeNAS 9.1.1 32bit. I had the same problem on 8.3.2 32bit.

Thanks

- Erik

What are the permissions on the CIFS share? What are the home directories for the users?

Are you testing the 2nd and 3rd connections, from the same machine that you used for the first connection?

If so, you probably need to clear the network connection from the first login (or restart the machine).

To troubleshoot the issues for the latter connections, I'd suggest you go to a command prompt and use the net use command interactively.

For example: net use X: \\ip-address\sharename

You should be prompted for the FreeNAS username and password

I have not set home directories in the user profiles.

The Permissions for the volume is
Owner (user): Read, Write, Execute
Owner (group): Read, Write, Execute
Owner Group Other: Read, Execute
Type of ACL: Unix
Set permission recursively: No

This is the CIFS share
Export Read Only: No
Browsable to Network Clients: Yes
Inherit Owner: No
Inherit Permissions: No
Export Recycle Bin: No
Show Hidden Files: No
Allow Guest Access: No
Only Allow Guest Access: No

I have tried 3 different workstations. A win2000 server (yes, i know :)). A session on a 2003 Terminal Server and a Linux Mint desktop.

Make sure that the users are part of the same group in FreeNAS, and that the group in question has access to read/write to the directory/storage.

I am still having the same problem. I know the configuration is correct because the first user is able to login and add/edit delete files. It is the 2nd user that has the exact same configuration that can not access the same files (or folder). The user just gets a permission denied message.

Thanks,

I am still having the issue. I have tried removing and re adding the 2nd user with a different password and identical settings as the first user. From either a win2000 (VNC) session, a 2003 server RDP session or from my Linux Mint desktop, I can not login as the second user. The first user does not have any issues. I have also tried changing the ip address and the domain name of the main 'settings' interface. All with no luck. Is there log or output that records user login attempts? Or any other log that will point me to any problems.

Thanks

Erik
