1 year old FreeNAS mini

Good afternoon group, I have a pair of FreeNAS mini(s) running FreeNAS-9.10.2-U1. Both units are intended to be backup volumes for Acronis Backup in the Windows world.
Both units have 32GB RAM, read cache & write cache SSDs. Both units are Z1 with four 6TB SATA HDDs.
The first unit has been in constant production so I leave the OS alone (per instructions from my wise boss)
The 2nd mini is going into production within 10 days. My question is what OS should I upgrade to and what caveats should I be aware of?

Any firmware or tricky updates needed or just download and install?

If I recall correctly, 9.10.2-U5 was very good.
11.1 has a memory leak that can make it reboot unexpectedly.
